Freakin Jinwoon's is the cutest thing ever. I giggle every time (and I've watched it about 10 times in the last 5 minutes). And Yoseob and Jinwoon do a super OneDay mashup of Heartbeat and A Friend's Confession while Onew does Ring Ding Dong in the back. I can't figure out what dance Khunnie is doing though.
I just realized that Jinwoon licks his lips at goodbye part...he needs to stop being so cute yet seductive or else he's going to replace Changmin as my fave 2AM-er.

2009 Melon Music Awards
So...heh...I ended up staying up all night watching it live on Solinren instead of sleeping for my final. 2PM! 2NE1! G-dragon (via video)! No SHINee :(
2PM's Top 10 performance was soooo...AMAZING! The intro totally made my entire night/morning :D

"Heartbeat" was perfection, as always. These guys never disappoint :)
2NE1 performed "Fire" and "I Don't Care" for their Top 10 stage. I've almost forgotten how great the girls' performances are. It's been a while since they've done a performance as a whole 4. So powerful compared to all the other girl groups.
And they did a DJ Schedule1 remix of "Let's Go Party" for the super girl group joint stage! So dooope :D
AND THEY WON THE NEW ARTIST AWARD! That's right, they totally deserve this one too.
GD won Album of the Year :D Despite all the controversy, he still comes out on top. It's nearly impossible to dethrone him.
And on top of all this awesomeness that is the Melon Music Awards, Sukie was a perfect MC along with Shin Hye. "Hyungnim!!!" Gah, I want "You're Beautiful" back...RIGHT NOW. Give us a 2nd season!
Now I just have to find all the MCing parts with subs so I know exactly what they were saying and being so cute about.

Just can't help myself
Seriously, I'm trying to study, but when something is as boring as my Greek Mythology class is, it becomes increasingly difficult to keep my mind off of my Korean boys/guys. They're just so much more interesting than the "almighty" gods of Mt. Olympus. Sorry Zeus, but the only Almighty one for me is Key.
I keep thinking about the Melon Music Awards tonight. I cannot find anywhere that's streaming it live. I can't even find the channel it's broadcasting on. I want to watch sooo bad. My ultra hottie Sukie is MCing with Park Shin Hye!!! Ahhh "You're Beautiful" mini-reunion. AND there's gonna be a girl group mega performance w/ 2NE1, SNSD, Brown Eyed Girls and Kara. And I bet there will be a ton of great performances by all my faves. *sigh*

I was driving back from LA with my mom and I was listening to 2PM and she said that they sound good. Yay! I am slowly getting my family to like K-pop.

The Bling and Almighty
I've been going uber SHINee crazy. I am forever thankful for SFINEE and their subbed videos. :)
I picked my favorite SHINee boy this afternoon. It was between Bling Bling Jonghyun and Almighty Key. I liked Bling^2 because he's the most mature looking and has the voice of a god. Oh and that chiseled jaw...mmm! But then Mr. Almighty started grabbing my attention with his cuteness and charm and his inability to hold in his laughter (just like me).
Too hard to choose between them, so to be fair I started taking Ring Ding Dong MV screencaps of both of them to make a wallpaper out of. And at 0:50 exactly, my decision was made for me.
Hellooooo Key ♥ You win.

This is now my wallpaper. It's like he's staring straight at me through my computer screen...and I get to stare back at him all I want. ;)
Oh, and speaking of cute, ear-pierced dongsaengs...
My dear 15-year-old Paul, why did you let Johnson cut and style your hair and give you dope earring/plugs? And why did you adapt to the crews' fashion sense and silly yet haughty attitude?? Don't you know you look like a k-pop star now?! Dangit Paul, I'm going to die of a cuteness overdose at practices because of you. Now learn the choreography and sing me "Replay" so I can die in bliss. HAHAHAA.

Rain!
...not the beloved Ninja Assassin actor (although, that would be nice too), but the weather kind. First rainy day of the 2009 Winter and I'm listening to my ULTIMATE 158 song/9.5 hour K-love playlist. It is arguably the best way I can spend the first day of the last week of school. The only thing better would be if I was walking around campus in the rain with Seungri, Taec, Khun, Changmin, Jonghyun, Key or Geun Suk. Kekeke. Any one of them (or combo...or all) would be fine with me ;D

All nighter...
watching SHINee's performances and "SHINee's YunHaNam" and finding all their music. Good thing I've been sleeping so much the past couple of days. I ♥ Jonghyun & Key. I wish they weren't my dongsaengs. All 5 of them are such adorable young men. Loving their music and especially their dancing...I'm hesitant to admit it, but they're better dancers than 2PM...(Hottests, don't kill me.) I will post a stage-presence comparison in the near future.

Jang Geun Suk
I woke up to this pleasant surprise today on allkpop :)
Too bad it's only sold in Japan. I would love to have him hanging on my wall.
My Jang Geun Suk story:
When I was watching "You're Beautiful" I liked ShinWoo first, but then (as always) I ended up falling and rooting for the main guy character, TaeKyung. He's snobby and full of himself, yet soooo adorable because he's fallen in love with the girl he's supposed to hate. He's such a great actor and on top of that, a super cutie.
Wanting to see more of Geun Suk's work, I watched "Baby and Me". He proved that he could be a good father! Super plus points in my book. And now I'm in the middle of "Beethoven Virus". OMGAH! He's just so sweet and tough and loving and I hate Du Ru Mi for what she's done to him so far.
Sukie's got a killer smile (and body). It makes me melt.
iTunes madness
About an hour ago I found out through allkpop that the 1:59 album was up on iTunes. I immediately ran downstairs, grabbed all the unused iTunes gift cards we had (about $75 worth, thank goodness I had no reason to use them until now) and proceeded to buy ALL the 2PM and 2AM albums. I am one very happy girl right now.
Yes, I already had downloaded almost all their songs, but I want the most official versions I can get my hands on. YouTube rips just don't cut it. Plus, I was missing a few 2AM songs and the 2PM remixes and instrumentals. *sigh* Now if I could only find the physical albums and have enough money to buy them.

2PM + 2AM = ONEDAY
So my 2PM/2AM story is fairly short. It started with 2PM. I don't remember how I found them, but I know it was in the beginning of September. They became an obsession SUPER quick. That's just how beastly they are. At first I was more in love with them than their songs. They really don't hide their real selves behind the idol facade. I have never seen such a collection of fun-loving and dorky boys (aside from my bboy crew). Their songs eventually got to me and when they dance...OMG!!!! Game over for me.
If I remember correctly, I first saw 2PM's counterparts while watching the Christmas episode of Idol Army. They were so cute and silly and brotherly all together as one. I got to know 2AM better through Hot Blood. And after the Men's Health article/pictorial...*faint*. Changmin...ahhhhhh!!! Anyways...I love that they're ballad singers. Such strong, sultry voices (ESPECIALLY Changmin's). Makes me swoon. Plus they're dorky.
If you can't tell by now, I love dorks. They're just so loveable.
Why I ♥ 2PM:
- Realness. They're young men and don't hide it.
- Their individual personalities: they're all so dorky, cute, loving, adorable and beastly in their own way.
- Dancing machines!
- Brotherly love. They really care for each other.
- Those voices.
- Fun-loving personalities.

My 2NE1 Story
So, honestly, when I first heard that YG was going to debut a "female Big Bang" I thought, "WHAT? Ew. Why? You can't make another group as good as my boys." When they debuted with "Lollipop" I still didn't really like them. Too flashy, too girly, too strange (Dara's palm tree hair, the makeup). But I still kind of supported them because they were BB's little sisters. When they officially debuted with their first single, "Fire" (Space ver., Street ver.), I still wasn't feeling it. They were still too "out there" for me. And then comes "I Don't Care" and suddenly, I found myself liking them a lot more. They had a more down-to-earth feel and I could relate to their music more. And now they are my one and only favorite girl group. EVER. Period.
CL is definitely the "baddest female" in my eyes. Her style is sick and she can hold it down against the guys and she's a great leader. As a group, the totally stand out from all the other girl groups out there. They're tougher, more truly hip-hop. They don't depend on a totally cute/sexy wardrobe, they have their own unique style. Same with their dancing, not all cutesy or seductive, they have flava!

- I find it hard for anyone to beat G-Dragon and TOP. (But then again, I'm biased.) And Taeyang+ Daesung's voices are amazingggg and Seungri's getting there too.- Dance, dance, dance
- Seungri, the dance machine FTW! Their routines are catchy and memorizable. - Personalities

This December marks my 1 year anniversary of my K-pop obsessiveness. Yup, I've been stuck in my Korean "world" for a whole year. You want to know how it all started? Well if you don't, too bad. I'm going to tell it anyways...
It all started with a single music video. Big Bang's "Lies" mv to be exact. My friend Sam "Panda" showed it to me. He's a 24-year-old bboy, mind you, so it must have been worthy of his manliness and rep for him to show it to me. So I watched it, and even though I couldn't understand what they were singing, I was hooked by the storytelling and catchiness of the song and the odd appeal of these foreign Asian boys. (I say "odd" because of Seungri's semi-bleached hair and the "hip-hop" clothes that I hadn't gotten used to yet.) Plus, it wasn't the kind of music video where the artist sings to the camera while some almost-naked girls bodyroll around them.
So the music video sparked my interest and I went on a massive search for more of their videos to see if they were as good as "Lies". Hello, "Haru Haru"! Just as good. Their "tough-guy" image was growing on me. (My previous thoughts about K-pop were that all the guys were super girly looking.) And so after that, the snowball effect ran its course and I had completely fallen in love with Big Bang.
They can sing & dance at the same time. Full routines. None of that "sing and stand, maybe sway and bob up & down a little while the back up dancers do all the impressive choreography" that I'm used to from American artists. I like to dance, I want to see more of it.
So in general, my obsessiveness with K-pop groups includes:
1. Familiarizing myself with all the members
2. Watching all the music videos
3. Watch at least one live performance of each song
4. Watch all the subbed TV shows/interviews/radio broadcasts/etc. they were in
(Random tidbit: Korean radio shows are video taped and broadcasted alongside the radio airing so you can see what's going on inside the studio. Pretty dang awesome!)
5. Figure out the dances to the songs
And so that is how the K-pop obsession began. Next came 2NE1, 2PM, 2AM, and very recently (like, "this week" recent) SHINee. But I will explain each one in separate entries.
